B.O.S.S. Academy Does Not Strong-Arm its Members, David Says

Apr 09, 2026

In 2020, David Schneer of Merrill Research vetted a lot of groups. He chose B.O.S.S. Academy’s Phoenix Fridays Leadership Power Hour because it didn’t force people. So many groups asked for his money in many ways that made him feel uncomfortable. Some made him take an oath, which he did not like.

“It was the first group that I came across that didn’t have hands in my pockets,” David said. “I was told by Paul Kirch, the group’s founder to come to the meeting and if it fit, good; if not, OK. I liked that about the group.”

David’s company provides qualitative and quantitative research to multi-national companies. He proved that design engineers buy things using emotions just like other consumers for one client. For another, he tested a skin-tightening procedure that was thought to be the No. 1 choice in Europe. He ensured the test was fair, accurate and without bias.

The members of the Phoenix Fridays Leadership Power Hour are not likely to be his clients, but that doesn’t matter. The group offers a unique set of smart entrepreneurs that genuinely “give a shit” about each other. Paul is the orb where everyone rotates, and he is authentic and genuine. David has noticed everyone else is genuine too.

After a while, he started to use some services from people in the group. He hired Yvonne DeVita and Tom Collins of Master Book Builders to help him publish his book. His son got help from some members. He also appreciated the amount of content and resources Paul has at his fingertips. He doesn’t always get something from the Phoenix Fridays meetings, but he usually does. He does get something from the content Paul provides.

“Paul needs to figure out how to monetize those resources, somehow,” David said. “He is dependable and always there. He needs to find a way to make money from what he offers people.

David’s company used to sponsor B.O.S.S. Academy, but had to drop its sponsorship because the company was moving in a different direction. He let go all his employees, had health issues and was forced to slow down his work. He is much happier without his employees and slower lifestyle, he said.

B.O.S.S. Academy needs to help business owners grow. The meetings should focus on the future instead of the past. However, Paul is listening to the market, which is the first step toward making changes.

“B.O.S.S. Academy has become part of my life. I honestly can’t say where I would be without the meetings on Fridays,” David finished.
