Five Ways B.O.S.S. Academy Resembles Kentucky Derby
May 01, 2026The horses run for the roses this weekend. It might be fun to compare B.O.S.S. Academy to the Kentucky Derby for small business owners.
- Training – Every horse goes through rigorous training to become a Derby horse. Small business owners also have to continue to train to stay sharp. Otherwise, they will be left behind and competitors will steal their clients. At B.O.S.S. Academy, members are entitled to a number of resources to train them to improve. For example, members could take the Yes! Test by Admanity to find out the best language to use when marketing their companies.
- Health – Only the healthiest horses are allowed in the race. Horses that are ill or broke a bone are usually scratched before the big day. At Phoenix Friday’s Leadership Power Hour, members get insights on improving their health so they are focused and strong to serve their clients. Strategies are provided that are easy to manage and add to their daily routine. When members are healthy, they work better and smarter, leading to increased revenues.
- Two Minutes – That is how long a race is. Members can take two minutes to provide updates about their business in the beginning of the Phoenix Leadership Power Hour. It is important to know what companies are doing so they can be supported. Everyone can take time to let members know what is new and what is changed. Discussions often grow from those first few minutes of a typical Friday meeting.
- Flowers – The winner of the Kentucky Derby is given a bouquet of roses. When members have significant success stories to share, the team provides them with virtual flowers and kudos. They clap hands and celebrate the wins whether they are small or huge wins. All wins are celebrated at B.O.S.S. Academy and Phoenix Fridays Leadership Power Hour.
- Welcoming – Anyone who has attended the Derby in person knows the atmosphere is welcoming and fun. Strangers come together to cheer on the horses and jockeys. The same thing occurs at B.O.S.S. Academy. All business owners are welcome and are treated with respect and happiness. Members cheer on the new members and support them to succeed.
