Having a Springboard Entices Deborah to Stay at B.O.S.S. Academy
Apr 01, 2026In February of 2022, Deborah Brown, owner of Surpass Your Dreams Inc., was approached by Paul Kirch to come to a meeting.
Paul told her he was rebuilding B.O.S.S. Academy’s Phoenix Fridays Leadership Power Hour and wanted her to be a part of the rebuilding. Deborah agreed to check out the meeting. It was different from what she had experienced previously.
“I liked the group. I liked the members who were there,” she said. “I thought it could be something special.”
She kept returning every week because of the members who came every Friday. She liked that the group features no judgment and are genuinely happy when something good happens to me. She also is genuinely happy when something good happens to others in the group. That atmosphere is appealing, she said.
Early in her attendance, she struggled with her business. Deborah coaches individuals on career changes or reinvention of life. She allows people see jobs that are no longer fits to her clients or new jobs that might be right. She had videos on LinkedIn, but she was ready to stop doing them. She asked the group what she should do. Most members encouraged her to keep at the videos. Deborah acknowledged that was the right move. Her engagement on LinkedIn has increased because she took the advice of the group to continue doing the videos.
“I have more credibility from those videos, and it has led to clients. Some of my previous clients would see the video and call me. Others see a video and call me,” Deborah said.
Back then, she posted a video every day, but it became overwhelming. Now, she posts videos three days a week and changed other aspects of her LinkedIn marketing. B.O.S.S. Academy helped her change how she manages her business. The group is special because it allows people to share a problem, get help and not be ridiculed about that problem. It is supportive and positive, she said.
Deborah would like to see more conversations where people do not have to raise their hand to speak and more guest speakers. Inviting someone from the outside to speak to the group brings a different energy and perspective to the members, she said. Sometimes, she doesn’t want to raise her hand or feels intimidated to raise her hand. Overall, Deborah recommends the group and has gotten a lot from the Phoenix Fridays Leadership Power Hour.
